The lovely Glenys has just emailed me to say that Frances Hodgson Burnet was a tenant here at Great Maytham Hall from 1898 - 1907 and it provided the inspiration for her book. It is near Rolvenden, a village about 7 miles away from where we live!
Although the house has been converted into flats, the gardens are sometimes open as part of the National Gardens Scheme so I'll be keeping a look-out for the opening times.
Thanks Glenys.
The sky isn't black today and the sun keeps peeping out so I've managed to take some better photos of the mittens.
